Strengthening the national cyber security system – what will change ?

A draft amendment to the cyber security legislation is due to go out for public consultation. The system as specified by the Ministry of Digitization is to be strengthened, but for some business and administration this could mean more responsibilities and expenses.

On the pages of law.pl you can read about what is about to change and read the commentary of attorney Maciej Gawronski.

The main changes are the inclusion of telecommunications companies in the national security system, with the simultaneous establishment of the Computer Security Incident Response Team, or CSIRT Telco. Another change is that suppliers and manufacturers that do not guarantee cyber security will be excluded from the market.

A network of response teams will be expanded. More sectors, key to the economy will have their own CSIRTs
(as in the case of telecoms).

In addition, operational security centers (SOCs) will be established.

I have no doubt that strengthening the SOC is a step in the right direction. Such centers allow better identification of threats and facilitate quick response, especially if they can be supported by external specialized companies, according to Maciej Gawronski.
