Courts overturn fines for lack of masks.

The introduction of compulsory wearing of masks in public spaces, motivated by the increased incidence of Covid 19, has stirred controversy from the first day of its implementation. According to the Rzeczpospolita daily, since March 15 (this date can be taken as the beginning of the pandemic), nearly 1,000 cases have been filed in Warsaw courts, related to violations of covid rules.
Most cases involve violations of the order to wear masks. Very often the punished refuse to accept the mandate, the case goes to court, and due to the lack of clear statutory regulations, the court increasingly overturns the fines.

The situation does not surprise attorney Maciej Gawronski, who was asked to comment.

“From the government’s perspective, what matters is statistics in punishment, but this does not take away the right of citizens to fight for their rights and verify the qualification of certain acts, such as by police officers,” explains Maciej Gawronski.
